Es un gusto invitarles al Coloquio Ordinario que se llevarà a cabo el
prÃximo miÃrcoles en el Instituto de Ciencias FÃsicas  a cargo del 

       Dr.  Thierry Foglizzo

del Service d'Astrophysique, CE-Saclay, quien impartirà la charla

       From a water experiment to supernova theory

       miÃrcoles 17 de octubre a las 17:30 horas.

Resumen: 
       The explosive death of massive stars is believed to
       start with the collapse of their stellar core into a neutron
       star. Computer simulations suggest that hydrodynamical
       instabilities are able to trigger a globally asymmetric, neutrino
       driven explosion and explain the neutron star natal kicks.  The
       analogy between acoustic waves in a gas and surface waves in
       shallow water has been used at CEA Saclay to develop the first
       experimental analogue of a shock instability.  The experiment
       named SWASI is one million times smaller and hundred times slower
       than its astrophysical analogue. It confirms that asymmetric
       explosions are a robust outcome of fluid mechanics.
