Graphene 2012 International Conference , 2nd edition, Brussels, 10-13 April

Dear Colleague,

We would like to announce Graphene2012   http://www.grapheneconf.com/2012/Scienceconferences_Graphene2012.php    and welcome you at this 2nd edition of Graphene International Conference, in Brussels (Belgium), from the 10th to 13th of April 2012.

The event will be held in a brand new meeting place, Brussels44Center, where technology and innovation work hand in hand in the generation of new business opportunities.

Graphene2012 will be the largest event in the field taking place next year in Europe and is expected to gather 700 participants in a simple concept: a plenary session, extensive thematic workshops in parallel, an important industrial exhibition carried out with the latest Graphene nanotrends for the future will be some of the features of this event.

In addition, the consortium of the Graphene Flagship Pilot Action is working to establish the “Graphene Science and Technology Roadmap” which will be presented to the European Commission and Member States to demonstrate the need for securing long term funding, coordinated through a new Graphene Alliance. The Graphene Flagship Pilot Action will take advantage of the International conference Graphene 2012 in Brussels to co-organize a specific session in order to timely deliver to the European community the results of this Roadmap.

Abstract Submission is now open: http://www.grapheneconf.com/GENERAL/regini.php?c=2012&d=abs (Deadline February 10, 2012)

Registration: http://www.grapheneconf.com/GENERAL/regini.php?c=2012&d=fee

:::::GRAPHENE FLAGSHIP SESSION:::::

The consortium of the Graphene Flagship is working to establish the “Graphene Science and Technology Roadmap” which will be presented to the European Commission and Member States to demonstrate the need for securing long term funding, coordinated through a new Graphene Alliance. The Graphene Flagship will take advantage of the International conference Graphene2012 in Brussels to co-organize a specific session in order to timely deliver to the European community the results of this Roadmap.

Tentative program of this session:
a. “Vision of Defragmentation of European Innovation for the next decade : The Graphene Alliance”: Jari Kinaret
b. “The Graphene Science and Technology Roadmap": Vladimir Falko and Andrea Ferrari
c. “Korean Graphene Research and Roadmap”: Byung Hee Hong
d. “Japanese Graphene Research and Roadmap”: Masataka Hasegawa
e. Round Table: Luigi Colombo, Albert Fert, Francisco Guinea, Byung Hee Hong, Jari Kinaret, Klaus von Klitzing, Kostya Novoselov (to be confirmed)

:::::GRAPHENE CHEMISTRY & MATERIALS WORKSHOP:::::

This workshop aims at validating the roadmap developed within the GRAPHENE FLAGSHIP Pilot initiative, in particular in the fields of graphene chemical functionalization for electronics and composites applications, by an open consultation with leading experts in the field. A main advantage of graphene technology is that, being based on carbon, it takes advantage of the huge power and versatility of carbon-based organic chemistry, which allows a fantastic diversification of properties and functionalities at the nanoscale. The one-day workshop will be included as a parallel session of the Graphene 2012 Conference. A series of targeted talks given by keynotes speakers will be followed by a roundtable with invited experts.
