Last Call for Papers: PIERS 2013 Stockholm (August 12-15) - Where microwave and lightwave communities meet

Title: Last Call for Papers: PIERS 2013 Stockholm (August 12-15) - Where microwave and lightwave communities meet

Dear Prof. Wolf Luis Mochan Backal,

This is to cordially invite you to participate in PIERS (Progress in Electromagnetics Research Symposium) 2013 Stockholm (August 12-15), where microwave meets the light

http://www.piers.org/piers2013Stockholm/

Both microwave and lightwave are governed by the same Maxwell's equations. However, many  people in optics rarely read papers in microwave journals and "reinvented the wheel" from time to time, while many people in microwave rarely read papers in optics journals and keep "reinventing the wheel". It is therefore very worthwhile to encourage the microwave community and the lightwave community to meet and talk (or listen) to each other in a conference.  In PIERS 2013 Stockholm, photonics & optics take about 40%, microwave (incl. RF and mm wave) takes another 40%, and the rest is for general electromagnetics. PIERS 2013 Stockholm is a great event as a Family Reunion of Electromagnetics, spanning the classical and quantum worlds.

Progress in Electromagnetics Research Symposium (PIERS) provides an international forum for reporting progress and recent advances in the modern development of electromagnetic theory and its new and exciting applications since 1989. Topics include radiation, propagation, diffraction, scattering, guidance, resonance, power, energy and force issues, and all other modern developments, with spectra ranging from statics to RF, microwave, lightwave, and beyond.

New Feature: Focus Sessions
http://www.jorcep.org/piers2013/FocusSessions.html
20 Focus Sessions have been organized in PIERS 2013 Stockholm, besides about 80 special sessions. A partial list of keynote speakers can be found at

http://www.jorcep.org/piers2013/keynote.html

A high quality special issue related to PIERS 2013 Stockholm  will be edited in the journal of "Progress in Electromagnetics Research", as well as a book

http://www.jorcep.org/piers2013/specialissue.html

The submission deadline of one-page abstract to PIERS 2013 Stockholm has been extended to April 20, 2013, and this is the last call for papers. We have received over 960 submissions so far. On-Line-Submission via web page is strongly recommended.

About Stockholm:
Sweden has gained international recognition as an innovative, environmentally friendly and financially competitive country, despite its small size. Stockholm, Sweden's capital and Scandinavia's most densely populated city, is located on 14 islands in the south-central east coast of Sweden, and is home to about 1.4 million people in its urban area. Founded around year 1200, Stockholm has long been one of Sweden's cultural, media, political and economic centers. The city is known for its beauty, architecture, abundant clean and open water, and many parks. Each year, Stockholm welcomes more than 10 million visitors, and hosts several major international events and conferences.
